  1. The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris is hardly a tie-in. It’s the book series the tv-adaption is based on. Not sure about Cranford either.

  2. Kete,
Of course Sookie and Cranford and THE PACIFIC books existed before the TV adaptations. But in the publishing industry, tie-ins also refer to special editions brought out to coincide with release of the movie or broadcast of the TV versions and using the key art (ie The Posters and Advertising) as the new book covers.

  3. The Tie-In novels of Lee Goldberg, Todd Goldberg and William Rabkin are on the shelves in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. And if they are in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, they are everywhere.
In case you think I’m joshing, here is an ad that’s appearing on the sides of buses in Guelph, Ontario, Canada:
“New York. London. Rome. Guelph. Hit the Stone Road Mall.”
(Believe it or not, “the Stone Road Mall” is a world class in-door shopping mall.)
Lee has three different Monk novels on the shelves, some in paperback, some in hard-cover. If you rank hard-cover coverage in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, you have soared to the very top of the novel-writing pantheon.
Even Max Allen Collins only rates paperback!
