Dick Van Dyke is Back

Dick Van Dyke, 80,  is returning to television in “Murder 101,” a series of  movies for Hallmark in which he plays “a criminology professor who is less than brilliant when it comes to everyday tasks though incredibly smart when it comes to solving crimes. He bumbles through life not knowing where his keys are, but when he gets involved in a case his mind is a steel trap." His son Barry will co-star. The movies premiere in January.

  1. It’ll be good to have the Van Dykes back on TV, and Hallmark sounds like an ideal match for them. MURDER 101 was also the title of one of the best TV movies I’ve ever seen, a thriller about a college professor who assigns his students to come up with the perfect crime. Starring a pre-Bond Pierce Brosnan, written & directed by a pre-Oscar Bill Condon.

  2. I like that Mystery wheel they have on Hallmark. Not all the shows are great but I like the fact that they are making them, and they’re all entertaining. And it’s going to be great to have Dick Van Dyke back on TV, in a role that really suits him.

  3. That’ll be one I’ll watch–love mysteries and love Dick Van Dyke! The Hallmark mysteries need to be kicked up another notch. If anyone can bam them, he’s the one to do it.

  4. Just saw the Hallmark Ad! Great to hear Dick & Barry will return! One of the things I liked about DM was that I thought it was cool to see a father & son working together. Both as actors & characters! Does anyone know if Barry plays Dick’s son in Murder 101 like he did for DM. Even though he isn’t Mark Sloan for this, it’s just good to see Dick solving mystries again! Here’s hoping Murder 101 will be just as good as Diagnosis Murder.

  5. Murder 101 is excellent and Dick Van D. and his son, together again, are such a treat. However, the constant music in the background I find very distracting…the music swells just as someone’s trying to talk and make a point and the voices are hard to hear..I don’t understand the need for constant music which is very disruptive rather than scene-enhancing.

  8. I absolutely loved the series “Diagnosis Murder”…I don’t get Hallmark on my cable package and am wondering if there is anywhere I can buy the “Murder 101” movies and/or “Diagnosis Murder” series?
