here are some pictures of the great Calgary western sets I have been visiting…(click on image for a larger view). I'm in Toronto now for network meetings. It's still cold and snowy…but feels like Palm Springs compared to Alberta. Heading back to L.A. tomorrow.
Great pictures. The little town is just fantastic.
You look great in a parka, Lee. And when I say that the smile might be frozen onto your face, you will know what I’m talking about. 🙂
I hope you have good luck with the Canadian nets. Americans who come north and go into TV production usually do really well. Nobody can tell a TV story like a talented American. And Canadians absolutely love American TV.
I’m just up the road from you in Guelph, 60 miles west. Guelph is in what they call a “snow belt.” That’s the area where the cold Arctic area meets, if you can believe it, the moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, and when moist meets cold, it snows! We get ten times the snow that T.O. gets! Anyway, if you get a chance to try a Harvey’s cheeseburger, you can say that you’re an honorary Canuk. Hope you enjoyed your visit to the Hockey Capital of the World!
That photo of the ranch house looks just like my relatives former home near Baker MT, which is still standing although unoccupied. They only got electricity in the 1950’s. A rough life on the cattle ranch.
Gorgeous, Lee! Both the landscape and the dude in the furry parka.
Wasn’t the town used in Unforgiven?
Yes, Unforgiven was shot up there. But I am not sure if they used the same town sets we visited. They also shot Broken Trail, Open Range, Lonesome Dove: The Series, Gunsmoke: Return to Dodge, and Brokeback Mountain up there.
