RIP, Mr. Franciosa
The Name of the Game. One of my favorite shows as a kid. Loved Franciosa in that.
I saw Robert Stack on TV over the weekend and was amazed how little he had changed. I looked him up on the IMDB and it said that he had been dead for 3 years.
I’ll always remember him from “The Long Hot Summer.”

He was cool as hell!! I loved him in the Name of The Game, Search and Finder of Lost Loves. What a great voice and smile. Thank you for being one of my very favorite actors.
I had the honor of meeting Tony and his wife a few years back at a friend’s wedding reception. I was terribly saddened to hear (belatedly) of his death, as he was a lighthearted fun person when I met him, and I know very dear to my friends. RIP.
I loved Anthony Franciosa in a comedy he made with Jean Simmons in the fifties, (I think) where he played a nighclub manager and she was a teacher earning extra money working at his club doing something or other having to do with teaching. Haven’t seen it in years, but I remember really liking it. Paul Douglas was also in it…and
Rafael Campos and….hmm, that’s all I remember except that this was Tony at his sexiest. I also loved him in A HATFUL OF RAIN, a very grim drama with Eva Marie Saint and Don Murray. This was filmed in and around lower Manhattan’s Alfred Smith Projects. I grew up there and remember watching the shooting.
Fabulous movie for which Tony should’ve won an Oscar.

I have been following T.F.’s life for the past 40 years. I had this connection that I didn’t have with any other actor and I’m not even Italian. I’m deeply sadden that I found out has passing on 8 13/06. I thought of him the week that Shelley died wondering how he was taking his lost.
Thanks Tony for the memories.
