This opening chapter is really good. It has a credible, fully-realized setting. The characters are real persons with real motives. The action is genuinely exciting. The reading experience is pleasingly visual. The sophistication of the con is so far beyond the norm that it generates real respect for the antagonist. It’s like “Mission: Impossible” in reverse with the antagonist pulling off ‘the impossible’ mission. Best of all, the dramatic tension never slackens and is never undercut by farce or satire. Can’t wait to read chapter two!
