I went to the dentist today, and while he was drilling and scraping my teeth, I was plugged into my iPod, listening to TV themes (an admission that proves, in case anybody wondered, that I am a geek). I’ve decided that "Hawaii 5-0" is the best instrumental TV theme in TV history… better than "Peter Gunn," "Miami Vice," "Star Trek," or even "Mission Impossible."
I’d be inclined to argue with you over Peter Gunn, but you mentioned that one first, followed by Miami Vice, which should round out any top 3 list. So it’s all good.
Please tell me that The Equalizer ranks in there somewhere.
I’ll second that Equalizer nomination, though I don’t know if it would be my top choice. I like Miami Vice and Hawaii Five-O and Peter Gunn, but how about Stingray (Mancuso, not the puppet show), Magnum, P.I., The Simpsons, The Rockford Files, and I Spy?
Oh, and Joe Jackson’s theme song to Private Eye, the short-lived Michael Woods/Josh Brolin show from the 80s, was really nice.
I just noticed you had a MUSIC category over on the left there.
I SPY deserves shortlisting.
