My short story "Mr. Monk and the Seventeen Steps," an excerpt from my January 2011 novel MR. MONK ON THE ROAD, will be published in the December issue of Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, which will be out in October. The editors of the magazine asked me to make a trailer for the short story. Don't ask me why. I think they were drunk. I must have been, too, because I went ahead and made it.
What a scream! I loved this, Lee. Those of us lucky enough to have met you know that you are very creative and very funny. Your writing certainly proves those facts out (both via book and blog). And, you showed that talent and personality again in this trailer. So glad you took the EQMM editors’ advice!

Thank you, Charmi!
Lee
Thank you for doing this and sharing with us. It made me appreciate your hard work, and it also made me laugh toward the end.
Drunk or not, this was well done.
Funniest thing I have seen in a long time, thanks!!
I’ll buy it for my Kindle. 🙂
I laughed until I cried, seriously. It’s been a long month and this was a great pick-me-up for the middle of the work week. Awesome.
I’ve been apprehensive about reading any Monk books after “Mr. Monk Gets Cleaned Out,” because I haven’t been sure I’ve wanted to read any stories that come after the television series finale. In some ways, I like the idea of leaving Monk where we last saw him — finally coming to terms with Trudy’s death, healthier and happier because of it.
On the other hand, it occurs to me that reading this short story exert will be a great way to get a feeling for the post-show novels. I will _definitely_ be picking up that December issue. (So, y’know: no need for any, er, household accidents. ;-))
