  1. Emerged as a live game show in the fifties, candidates had to discover the identity of the murderer with the commissaire. The game show aspect rapidly vanished for a classical Whodunnit series with a long and successful run.
In the mid-seventies, the respectable actor playing the commissaire died and they tried replacement sleuths with tentative formula changes. In 1975 came the new commissaire, sacked in the nineties.
The show became the shadow of its former glory with a third regular cop and the public channel pulled the plug in 1996.
You can compare that with the British version of Maigret with Rupert Davies or the German Dragnet. Major influence on some German cop shows of the seventies.
