Don’t you imagine that once the floodgates break — especially if one of the networks makes a deal — this will come to a quick resolution? The WGA has done a fine job of standing firm (assuming they’re not giving away the farm at this point).
If true, bravo. But I still sense that networks and studios really want writers to turn in their scripts and disappear, so that the resident geniuses can turn the “raw material” into something worth viewing and divide all the profits among themselves.
I hope you’re right and that CBS/Viacom/Belisarius Productions is the next one to give in.
They won’t, Meg. UA is an independent. CBS/Viacom is, well, CBS/Viacom. They are one of the big conglomerates that own networks & movie studios are prime movers behind the AMPTP. You also won’t see Time Warner, Fox, NBC/Universal/USA, or ABC/Disney breaking ranks.
